Project Scope:
This project started in 2021 when CPB assisted the City of Megargel in applying for a community development block grant (CDBG) to replace and upgrade some of their very old non-functional fire hydrants. Megargel’s grant application was approved, and funding was awarded; however, the third-party grant administrator that Megargel had acquired pulled out of the industry. CPB reentered into a contract with the City to provide the necessary engineering services in 2024 with GrantWorks taking over the grant administration. With cooperation between all parties, an extension was granted by TDA, and the project was designed, bid, and constructed under very tight deadlines. This project consisted of the installation of 8 new fire hydrants and associated appurtenances and repairs. Plans and specifications were prepared by the CPB team and put out for bid. CPB provided the City of Bryson with civil plans and specifications, project management, bidding services, construction phase services, coordination between grant specialists, and project close-out services. This project was completed in late 2024 and had a total construction cost of $112,700 dollars.
